In August 2020, I sat down for a phone interview with Kim Villagante, a.k.a. Kimmortal the Artist to record their an episode for their podcast, FACES. Kim is a musician, actor, rapper, and community builder. FACES is a deep dive into artists working and living on unceded Coast Salish Territories (Vancouver, Canada).

In this 4th episode, we delve into topics including unlearning writer’s block in a colonial capitalist system, what it means for me to be Indigenous Malay on indigenous land, ghosts in the diaspora, world-building, the queerness of my characters, and healing through writing.

Since then, the Women’s Studies and English Literature departments at the University of Maryland in Washington, D.C. have included the episode as part of their curriculum.
